Year 7 Spanish: Learning the Present Tense through creativity!

This term, Year 7 students are diving into their first verb tense of the course: the Present Tense! Verb conjugation in Spanish can be challenging, but we are using an exciting and interactive tool to make it easier to understand.

Students are learning to conjugate ‘-AR’, ‘-ER’ and ‘-IR’ verbs with the help of verb conjugation spinners!

These spinners offer a visual and hands-on approach to mastering verb endings. As students rotate the wheels, they can see how verbs change depending on the subject, making abstract grammar rules more tangible. It is a great way to reinforce learning and boost confidence with the language.

Additionally, this activity brings a cross-curricular link with Art, allowing students to personalise their spinners while reinforcing their understanding of verb conjugation. The process of decorating and assembling the spinners taps into their creativity, while simultaneously helping them grasp key grammatical concepts.

We are looking forward to seeing how this combination of visual aids and creativity enhances their Spanish skills in the weeks to come!
