Year 5 Students Translate Peace into Action: Raising €157 for the Red Cross!

Year 5 students are transforming their lessons on peace and conflict into real-world action! As their 'Acts of Peace and Kindness Peacebuilding Challenge' concluded, they inspired the school community and successfully raised a spectacular 157 euros for the Red Cross.

The challenge, linked to the Unit of Inquiry, is designed to help students develop the Caring Learner Profile attribute by putting empathy and compassion into practice. The students were offered over 50 ideas—from writing messages of kindness to reading to younger children—to inspire them.

A small group took remarkable initiative by launching a food drive for the Red Cross, which quickly snowballed into a broader, creative fundraising project. The students demonstrated impressive entrepreneurial spirit by creating and selling handmade scarves, hats, origami bookmarks, puzzles, and bracelets. They even engineered fun, innovative games inspired by our recent maths estimation unit, offering donated prizes to the winners!

The fundraising stall held this week was a great success, showcasing the students’ creativity and collaborative spirit.

While the stall has closed, the Year 5 Red Cross Food Drive continues until the end of November! We encourage all families to contribute and help our students complete their amazing project. Please look for the specially marked collection boxes on Level 1 and Level 2.
