World Mental Health Day at RIS

On Friday 10 October (World Mental Health Day), RIS will take part in Hello Yellow to raise awareness of young people’s mental health. No young person should feel alone, and this initiative is a way for our school community to show support and connection - fitting perfectly with this term’s wellbeing theme: Belonging.

We’ll be marking the day by:

  • Creative arts project (Elementary):  Classes of older and younger students will be paired to create a vibrant yellow flower display with photos of younger students at the centre of each flower, sharing the message Brighter Together.

  • Canvas flower display (Middle & High School): Ambassadors will create a collaborative artwork carrying the same message.

  • Wearing yellow: All students and staff are warmly invited to wear something yellow – whether it’s a bracelet, hairband, accessory, or even a yellow T-shirt in place of their usual school shirt. Parents are encouraged to dress in yellow too and help us fill the day with brightness and positivity!

Please note: this is not a non-uniform day – yellow items should be worn as part of the regular school uniform.

  • Assemblies & wellbeing sessions: Students will explore mental health awareness in an age-appropriate way.

Together, we’ll celebrate connection, belonging, and the importance of supporting one another so that we can all thrive.
