The Joy of Reading
Last week, we had the book fair at school, and it was great to see how many students spent most of their break times hanging around the stands, browsing books, and, if they were lucky, getting one or two new books to take home.
Young people have more and more alternatives fighting for their attention these days, but reading remains a wonderful skill to acquire, as it opens up a whole world of learning and entertainment.

Our librarian, Ms Katarina, has made the library look better than ever, and it is clearly one of the students' favourite learning spaces. She has introduced students to the idea of making recommendations to their friends through short book reviews.

From Year 2 to Year 6, the students have really engaged well with this activity, and their enthusiasm for reading is truly contagious. We encourage students to develop their own tastes and find their favourite writers, but we also urge them to be risk-takers and try different styles of books from time to time.

Students are also encouraged to explore both fiction and non-fiction to deepen their knowledge in areas of interest while also stimulating their creativity and imagination.
Please take the time to share books with your children, as it is a wonderful bonding experience for both parent and child.
