Stories That Bring Us Together: Book Week 2026!
It’s Book Week next week! Under the theme, Stories Bring Us Together, this year’s exciting schedule of activities is designed to inspire a love of reading across our entire community, and engage all reading levels.
Key Events & Activities, 2 to 6 March
- Monday: The Book Team UK Book Fair - Please come to school to check out the excellent range of English language fiction and non-fiction books for all ages, in the L1 Lobby from 9:30 to 16:15. A 10% discount is available for purchases over 25 euro. If parents/carers are unable to attend, please ensure students bring along some pocket money to browse the collection and perhaps find a new favourite story to take home.
- Tuesday: The Little Prince Puppet Show presented by the RIS PTA for Early Years and Elementary School. To make the most of this magical performance, we encourage you to read the story together at home before Tuesday.
- Tuesday: Inside the Plot - Master the Art of Story - Year 10 students will enjoy an expert class on how to master the plot workshop with award-winning author Simona Sparaco.
- Tuesday & Thursday: Storytelling Corner in partnership with KouKou Edizioni - Parents and students are invited to join us in the L1 Lobby (8:30–10:30 & 15:00–15:45) to let your imagination run wild in creative sessions meant to bring your stories to life. Check out this video from @koukouedizioni for a sneak peak.
- Wednesday: Author Visit - We are thrilled to welcome Francesco Abbadessa, author of bilingual picture book Timmy Finds a Heart, who will be holding sessions for Y4, Y5, and Y6 throughout the morning. Signed and personalised copies are available for 10€ each (cash only).
- Friday: Character Costume Day (NU to Y6), Used Book stand for all ages + Popcorn stand
- Students from NU to Y6 are invited to come to school dressed as their favorite book character! Costumes should be recognisable characters from books and remain practical for a day of school. No "props" that look like weapons, please. Bonus points for sustainability!
- Additionally, please stop by the PTA stand in the L1 Lobby before and after school to browse and give a second home to a used book.
- Our IB students will be selling popcorn to fundraise for their Prom event taking place in April. Please bring some change (€2) for a yummy bag of popcorn!
Coming Soon: Reading Tips - Throughout the week, we will be sharing expert reading tips and special ‘Teacher’s Choice’ recommendations to help ignite a passion for reading.
Happy reading,
Katarina and Carla, RIS Librarian
