Enhancing STEAM Education at RIS with Robotics and Space Exploration
In January, Mr Parker, STEAM Coordinator at RIS, will be travelling to the European Space Agency in Belgium where he will be joined by other teachers from across Europe.
There he will be introduced to robotics teaching using the Lego models as well as Raspberry PI computers and Arduino electronics kits – all of these have been newly introduced to Rome International School.
Topics will include “Navigating on Mars with a rover” and “Searching for water on Mars”. Using topics like these, students at RIS will all become more familiar with building and using their own robots as part of the new STEAM initiative.
We are excited about the hands-on opportunities these developments will bring. With work underway to complete the Space Lab as soon as possible, we are confident that the opportunities available for STEAM enrichment will inspire our students to think creatively and explore the future of technology and exploration.
