- IB Diploma Programme
We are delighted to announce that RIS International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) graduates have once again performed above the global average, as confirmed by the examination results released by the IB.
Despite continued disruption to education owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Class of 2022, achieved the highest results in our school's history, with an average points score of 34 - well above the world average of 31.98.
The highest individual point score achieved at RIS was an impressive 43 out of a possible 45 and 25% of our students scored 40 points or above, placing them in the top tier of IB results across the world.
Impressively, 58% were awarded the much-desired Bilingual Diploma, compared with an average of 27% worldwide. These students achieved excellent results in Arabic, Chinese, and Italian Language & Literature courses in addition to English - a reflection of our expertise in delivering a multilingual education.
Graham Thompson, Headteacher at RIS, said: “As a member of the Globeducate ICS family, we are proud to be an inclusive school where all of our High School students study for the IB Diploma. We are immensely proud of the achievements of the class and their outstanding performance is the result of great teamwork and a huge amount of dedication from our teachers who supported and guided each of our students on an individual basis through this exciting journey. I wish all of our graduates every success as they head off around the world to their chosen destinations.”
Scott Webber, incoming Head of School, shared the following words: “I am absolutely delighted to note the success of our graduating students upon attaining the best IB results that Rome International School has ever achieved. This is testimony, not only to the dedication and commitment to their studies by our Year 13 students, but also to the excellent endeavour and professionalism of our teachers. I congratulate everyone involved in this success: students, teachers and of course our parents too, and look forward to working with our community to ensure our continued excellence in the years to come.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2022 who are now in the process of finalising offers from world-class universities of their choice.
Working closely with our University Counsellor, the counselling service at RIS is all about guiding students to find the universities that best fit their needs and that look after their well-being. The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Ireland and Italy remain popular destinations and the wide range of high quality university destinations is a reflection of our students’ willingness to succeed in and shape tomorrow’s world.
An example of the UK university offers include the University of Edinburgh, King's College London, the University of Manchester, the University of Warwick and the University of Nottingham, which are all part of the prestigious Russell Group universities. Students applying to Ireland, the U.S., Canada, Australia and other European countries have also been offered places at higher education institutions including the University of British Columbia, Maastricht University, Tilburg University, University of Sydney and Trinity College.
We would like to wish the Class of 2022 the very best in the next chapter of their lives.
