Inspiring and Empowering: Back to School Staff INSET Days at RIS Rome
RIS Rome International School kicked off the new school year with a dynamic series of in-service days, designed to set the stage for a successful year ahead. Our new and returning staff members were engaged in activities to plan and prepare for a smooth and productive start to the academic term.
The friendly RIS Reception staff look after the daily needs of our students and staff and help connect parents and visitors to the relevant sections of the school.
The induction process began with a warm welcome for our new staff, who enjoyed an interactive tour of the school, allowing them to take in the beautiful woodland surroundings that make our learning environment so unique. This tour provided a great opportunity for teachers to familiarise themselves with the campus and the new facility upgrades made over summer such as the amazing terrace multi-court and super dynamic elementary climbing frame.
Staff meetings, involving academic and non academic personnel, were held to review and discuss essential policies, including safeguarding protocols, ensuring everyone is up-to-date and aligned with our commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment.
Staff also enjoyed a stimulating session on wellbeing, a top priority at RIS, through which a carefully and expertly designed programme ensures all members of our community feel valued as individuals, safe and happy.
A highlight of these meetings was a fun and engaging quiz that tested knowledge of policies and procedures, as outlined in the staff, parent, and student handbooks. This interactive approach was a great way to reinforce important information and foster team spirit.
Academic staff had dedicated time to develop their individual professional growth plans and set teaching goals for the year. These plans are a key part of a continuous improvement strategy and will be reviewed in one-to-one meetings with assigned school leaders. Time was also dedicated to working collaboratively on school-wide scope and sequence documents as part of efforts to create greater synergy and ensure a continuum of learning and progress across the school.
Teachers in the Primary and Secondary Schools are getting ready for the respective evaluation visits for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and Diploma Programme, which occur every five-years and are an important aspect of our quality assurance and commitment to academic excellence.
Overall, the structured and informative start to the year has set a positive tone for the months ahead. It’s truly exciting to see RIS’s mission of preparing and empowering students for success come to life as we begin this new school year together.
