Expert Talk: Ethical Inquiry, AI in Education and Support for Learning
On Wednesday 10 December we were delighted to welcome Richard Human, Globeducate Head of AI to our school.
From Year 5 through to Year 12, students took part in his dynamic and inspiring workshops that also explored Data Literacy and Ethical Inquiry. His interactive sessions sparked curiosity, sharpened critical thinking, and encouraged students to ask the big questions behind the data that shapes our world.

The session with Mr. Richard was really thought-provoking and interesting. Many of us were surprised by how present AI works, and how quickly it is developing. What our class found interesting was the discussion around AI in education, from recommendation algorithms, to study tools, and how we should use AI not as a shortcut, but as a support for learning. Overall, the session helped us see using AI not as “cheating” or a liability, but as a tool that will increasingly shape how we learn in the future!" Year 7 Student Rep, Balsem

I found it very interesting and thoughtful that our school cared and thought about educating their students about the right uses of AI and how AI and LLM (Large Language Models) work. This resulted in almost all the middle year students getting information about AI that they’ll need. The benefits, the cost and the dangers of AI were all presented greatly that day. Additionally, I found it considerate that we were able to ask questions and get clear answers throughout the course of the speech, this made it more interactive and fun." Year 9 Class Rep, Dylan

My class's opinion on the assembly about the use of AI is that they think that Richard's visit was very useful to teach students how to use AI responsibly and safely. Knowing how to use AI is extremely important for kids like us of this generation because AI is only progressively improving and soon could be a vital part of our lives. Richard's point of view helped us to improve our knowledge on AI and we collectively really appreciated his words." Year 10 Class Rep, Giulia

To begin with we found the session very interesting and insightful. We have learned lots of things about AI that we had never heard of previously, which was very intriguing. We enjoyed the presentation very much and we particularly liked the part where he showed us how to make good prompts and the two AIs (NotebookLM and Perplexity) as they will definitely help us in the future. However, I believe that an interactive experience may have lead to a more engaged audience and would have been a bit more exciting. Overall, we really enjoyed it." Year 12 Student Rep, Massimo
