RIS Seniors Compete at Roma Tre University
In February, two RIS High School students took part in a Math Olympiad regional tournament, organised at Rome Tre University. The competition, promoted and organised by the Italian Mathematical Union, involved the top secondary school students from Rome.
Participants will be challenged by an exam focused on problem-solving and the ability to provide mathematical arguments. The day served as a significant orientation opportunity, giving students the chance to engage with a dynamic and stimulating side of mathematics that goes beyond purely mechanical approaches.

Here's what our IB senior students, Antonio and Nikolas, had to say about their experience:
"I really enjoyed this intriguing experience, as this competition wasn't only about mathematics, but it was also about meeting new people, exchanging valuable information with them, and, perhaps, making lifelong friendships. I found that the ideas, thoughts, and clashes in points of view of various people I met were, in a way, essential in shaping not only my way of viewing mathematics but also the opinions of many others. Only through such events can we gain a larger and more truthful understanding of reality; hence, I recommend many other students to take part in competitions, tournaments, and large-scale events, not necessarily in math, but in other subjects as well, to promote this mesmerising exchange of culture and knowledge." Antonio
"Some days before, I participated in the Italian Math Olympiad regional tournament (Olimpiadi Della Matematica Gara Distrettuale). It was an unforgettable and special experience for me. As one of the 2 students to pass the first game (I Giochi di Archimede) in school, I feel proud of myself to represent the school. I challenged myself and explored more math. In the future, I will continue improving myself and becoming a greater and smarter IB learner. Nickolas
