This week we are continuing our exploration of plants: what they need and their importance in people's lives. We have spent our time making inquiries about what bean plants need to grow and making changes to their environment as we noticed they needed more space, soil, water and sunlight to thrive.

As we returned to the Woods for the first time in months, we were impressed to see all the different changes in vegetation. We asked lots of questions about the cloud cover, why it rains so much in April and how wet soil might help plants grow. We have been investigating what plants can do for us and making lists of different seasonal fruits and vegetables we want to try, as well as predictions about how they might taste based on their appearance.

One of our favourite activities has been continuing our adventures with Zoey and Sassafras as we read another chapter book about the Pod and the Bog. It connects perfectly with our current unit, and offers a lot of opportunities for designing our own plant experiments, as well as thinking about new vocabulary and how we can uncover their meaning through context clues.
