On Tuesday this week, Chinese New Year was celebrated worldwide. In what has now become tradition at RIS, Elementary, Middle and High School students came to school dressed in red. In the Middle and High School, the Year 12 Chinese class distributed a variety of snacks to their peers during lunch-time.
Elementary students in Years 3 and 4 studying Chinese language and culture took part in a 'tasting picnic' of typical dishes eaten during this holiday, such as steamed dumplings and noodles, which are said to bring good luck. This was followed by a special recital of classic Chinese songs and poems, which they performed in front of their parents and peers.
Happy New Year!
