Early Years

AGES 2 TO 5: NURSERY; KINDERGARTEN; TRANSITION

A  safe, caring and nurturing learning environment, the Early Years department follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme starting from age 2. In our Nursery class, for children who have reached the age of two by 30th September, learning takes place through play and is developmentally appropriate to the age of the children.

Our inquiry-driven approach fosters curiosity, a love of lifelong learning, and promotes children's social, emotional and personal growth. The natural curiosity of children is a motivating source for learning. Play that is associated with academic learning is an act of ‘inquiry’. We believe inquiry connotes critical and reflective thinking that promotes the attainment of the intellectual capacity of every child.

Learning Environment

All classes in the Early Years benefit from the support of highly experienced and caring teachers and teaching assistants.

  • Classrooms are well equipped and designed to encourage and develop independence, team work, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Attractive classroom displays provide information to help learning and celebrate our students' achievements across all years.
  • Starting from age 2, specialists teach Music and Physical Education. Learning can be supported by educational visits to areas of interest, connected to the curriculum, outside of school.

There is a designated Early Years lunch-room where our caring and staff serve nutritious and well-balanced organic meals. Students enjoy a fresh fruit break daily.

Outdoor Education

Early Years classes benefit from an extensive outdoor education programme, making full use of the natural woodland surrounding the school.

Active learners

The school's indoor gymnasium provides a fantastic space for our youngest students to explore and improve coordination and movement.
