IB Diploma Results
We are delighted to announce that Rome International School's IB graduates have once again consistently performed above the world global average, as confirmed by the examination results released by the IB.
Despite a school year filled with challenges the Class of 2020, which is the 10th cohort to complete the two-year IB Diploma at Rome International School, achieved an average points score of 32 - above the world average of 29.9.
The highest individual points achieved was an impressive 41 points out of a possible 45 and 60% of our students were awarded the much desired bilingual diploma, compared with an average of 30% worldwide.
In addition, our average grade of 5.11 is an improvement on 2019 results and is higher compared to the global average grade of 4.80. Impressively, our students also scored well above the world average in many subjects in the Language A and B groups as well as Sciences and Humanities.
Where have our students applied to?
Our students have been offered offers of admission to around 40 universities across 4 continents including Australia, Canada, Europe and the US.
UK Universities offers include the University of Edinburgh, King's College London, the University of Manchester, the University of Warwick and the University of Nottingham, which are all part of the prestigious Russell Group universities.
Students applying to Australia, Canada, other European countries and the U.S. have also been offered places at prestigious higher education institutions including the University of British Columbia, Acadia University, Maastricht University, Tilburg University, Australian National University, and the University of Miami.
The application process to universities around the world is a two-year-long exercise which sees our IB students working in close cooperation with our Librarian and Careers and University Counsellor.
Through workshops, one-to-one meetings, university fairs and lectures, students are assisted in identifying their study area of interest and career ambitions. Our Careers and University Counsellor uses a number of tools to help students select the best universities and provides step-by-step support for each stage in the application process.
The leaving ceremony for our final-year IB students has traditionally been one of the most important events in the school calendar. Our teachers and staff have tremendously enjoyed being able to plan, organise and celebrate the achievements of the graduating class.
The 2020 ceremony will no doubt be a lasting memory for the Year 13 class who, together with many of their peers around the world, celebrated the next stage in their journeys during the temporary closure of schools owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. In lieu of the traditional graduation event in the school Auditorium, the school organised a photo day on Thursday 4th June 2020 and a virtual leaving ceremony was held on Wednesday 10th June in order to give the Class of 2020 the farewell that they deserve.
