Moving forward together A message from the Headteacher Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
A technical issue meant that we were unable to send our newsletter to you as we usually do every Friday. We are therefore sending it to you now and we hope you enjoy reading it as we begin a new week of learning. As announced to all parents, online learning will be in effect for all classes from Monday 15th March. As we move forward, please keep an eye out for communications from the school and your child's teacher. Having to go back to increased restrictions certainly brings increased challenges however I am confident that we will get through this period by working together. I wish you a wonderful week ahead.

Tips to create a balanced home learning routine We understand the challenges that this return to a virtual school environment brings for our community and our staff have been working hard to ensure a seamless transition to remote learning for all classes. Here are some simple and effective tips to create a balanced routine during this period of distance learning. Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
We are pleased to announce a new initiative by the ECO Council: Meatless Monday!
This initiative started when Benedetta C. (Year 5G) came to speak to us about her concern that we eat too much meat in the lunchroom. She explained that it is not good for the environment because it causes deforestation and pollution and that eating meat contributes to food waste and global warming.
We thought she was very convincing and decided to take action! We wrote to Mr Thompson and Ms Bonanni and they gave us permission to start this project. We hope that having one meat free day per week will help our planet and our health. Instead of meat, we can eat things like vegetables, fruit, lentils, beans, veggie burgers, eggs, dairy and much more...
If we haven't convinced you yet, check out this video we made!
Monday, March 15th, will be our first Meatless Monday to kick off Eco week. We hope you will support this initiative at home as well.
Sincerely, The Eco Council
Photo of the day Well done to Year 1 Pandas who had a practical session on how to use Google Meet. Ms Chidsey showed students how to mute their microphones. Thank you to Ms Braghetta for sharing this photo! Keep up the good work Year 1! MHS WEEK 1 TIMETABLE - 15 TO 19 MARCH 2021 A message from the Middle & High Principal Dear RIS Community,
A couple of quick thank you's for our community from me. I would like to thanks the Parent Reps from years 7, 8 and 9 for giving up their time to meet with me last week. We had a very productive conversation discussing a range of subjects. I strongly encourage you to please reach out to your year rep if you have not already. I know that we have a number of new families who have joined us this year. If you have not already done so, please do pass your details to them. They will be happy to add you to mailing lists. My other thank you is to the students and staff who have worked so hard for the virtual concert held on Friday evening. I am hopeful that our next virtual concert will be put together by our parents! It would be wonderful for our students, staff and families to watch a series of performances from our parent community. I am hopeful that our year reps will lead on this...more information to follow. You will be aware that we received the sad news last week about the cancellation of the IBDP examinations this summer. Whilst the IGCSE exams remain unaffected at this time, I would like to assure you all that we are fully prepared for any eventuality. We remain in contact with Cambridge and other schools, nationally and internationally and are monitoring the situation very closely. There is understandably some concern within our local community about what may or not happen in the next few weeks, but we can only control what we can control. We will keep you all posted with any developments, however small. For now, please stay safe and stay connected with each other.
Mr Mongare
Message from Year 7 Parent Reps
Dear Year 7 Parents,
We had a rep meeting last week and we are aware that some of the parents of new students are not included in our class chats. Due to the school's privacy policy, please reach out to us if you would like to be added into our class chats for Year 7 A and 7 B.
The class chats are useful to share comments, send reminders and stay connected with other parents! Feel free to reach out to your class representatives.

A Student Like Me - Part II A teacher learns what it is like to be a Middle School student Message from the IB Coordinator Year 13 parents and students have been informed that the IBO cancelled the May 2021 exams for all of Italy. This was a very difficult week for our graduating class but I have to say, our students took the decision in a mature manner and are now finalising any outstanding work. Alertness and flexibility are again key in the coming days and weeks. Stay safe! Ms El Sheikh Year 8 Music students create their own adverts!
We started by studying the role of music in the media, including computer games, films and advertisements. The students learned how music can be used to influence the consumer and make a sale more likely. They were given a brief to write to and ideas about unique selling points and 'angle'. They chose or invented their own products and then had to write a script and source the music for each advert. Some groups even composed their own music using online software. Well done Y8! Mr Powell
