Middle School (Ages 11 to 14)
Rome International School is an accredited Cambridge International School and examination centre. Cambridge Checkpoint and International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams are offered.
The Middle School programme, which starts with Year 7 at Rome International School, is a stimulating and varied curriculum that seeks to develop and enrich the learning skills formed in the Primary Programme.
It draws learning material from a wide range of global contexts and we use the excellent range of learning resources available for Cambridge Secondary Education.
The school introduced Cambridge Checkpoint for students in Year 9, a diagnostic tool designed to assess learners at the end of the Middle Years.
Cambridge Checkpoint is an international assessment for the Middle Years. Our results are based on comparative data with other international schools and those in the UK.
Results show that every year, our students make better progress than expected in English, Maths and Science, which are the three subjects tested
The school offers a choice of French, Spanish or Chinese languages and also offers students the opportunity to follow an Italian curriculum to coincide with our international curriculum.
The Italian curriculum prepares students for the Terza Media exam, if desired. These lessons are delivered by our experienced native tongue Italian staff during normal lessons and in additional periods before and after school. The Italian department has had excellent results year on year.
