My journey through RIS began when I was just 17 months old, and it has shaped who I am today. Growing up in an IB environment fostered curiosity, open-mindedness, and a love for learning. Now, as I approach graduation, I look back with pride on how I have grown and faced my challenges, but also enriched by the experiences RIS has offered me throughout the years. I look forward to the new chapter in my life.

I have only been at RIS for the last two years, but in this short time the school has given me so many opportunities. From invaluable friendships, interviewing a former prime minister, to traveling across Italy as a Globeducate Italy Senator, RIS has allowed me to grow as a student, but most importantly as a person. Hence, despite the difficulties of Year 13 I will always be grateful for the opportunities RIS has allowed to participate in. I will now proceed my studies in LUISS where I’ll study Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Years at RIS: 2 years
What has been the most challenging or rewarding aspect of studying the IB at RIS?
The most challenging aspect has surely been the enormous workload and deadlines of the IB Diploma. Yet the school has also been very rewarding. Firstly I have been able to take part in the Globeducate student senate of italy, where I travelled Italy, worked with the school Senior Leadership to promote the subject of student wellbeing in the classrooms. In addition I have been able to interview and exchange meaningful interactions with Mr. Fallia Italian ambassador in South Korea, Qu Dongyu Head of FAO and also former Italian Prime Minister Mr Amato. Hence through RIS I met people of utmost relevance and experienced active leadership through the senate and the leadership summit that I have taken part in January 2025

The feeling of hospitality and security. That feeling of having someone there ready to help if anything went south, or I made a mistake or simply if I was upset.

I have been a student at Rome International School for six years. Looking back, I remember how introverted I was when I first arrived. But now, I find myself already missing my class, my friends and teachers deeply. As my high school life is coming to an end, I plan to study mathematics in the UK. I believe the experiences I've gained from my school life at RIS are truly invaluable, these unforgettable memories will always stay with me. Together with a passionate heart, I’m ready to take the next step toward a new chapter in my life!
Years at RIS: 4-6 years
What has been the most challenging or rewarding aspect of studying the IB at RIS?
Besides the depth of academic knowledge learning started since the start of IB, the most challenging aspect for me was brainstorming topics for my extended essay, internal assessments, as well as meeting all these consecutive deadlines. Additionally, while focusing on the academic written works and tests, consistently maintaining my CAS reflections on the other hand was also difficult to manage well. However, the most rewarding aspect was that I have successfully completed all of them, and looking over these thousands of words, I felt a strong sense of accomplishment.
Where have you applied to university and which course of study would you like to pursue?
I have applied to universities in the UK to study the course of mathematics, including University College London, King’s College, University of Manchester, Queen Mary. Another option is to study in the University of Toronto in Canada or University of Melbourne in Australia to study economics.
What messages would you like you to share with your teachers?
I am grateful to meet all the nice teachers during my six years of student life at Rome International School. Particularly, the teachers who supported me over the last two years, I want to say many thanks to them: Dr Roach and Ms MacCallum, who are always there to provide clear guidance whenever I had questions about the IB programme or university applications. The passion alone is not enough to succeed in IB, so I am especially thankful to my six subjects teachers: Ms Sun, Ms Alves, Ms Roach, Ms Bolito, Ms Govender and Ms Chiariello, thanks for being responsible to teach academic knowledge, patience in answering any questions outside the class, and also having high expectations on me!
What aspects of the school will you miss the most?
I will miss my friends and classmates at RIS a lot. On the other hand, the strong connection to the Chinese community in this school that I feel is hard to leave. I will miss the moments when we stayed together, chatting, and especially when celebrating the chinese cultural events together with school.
What is your motto?
Where there is a will, there is a way.

What has been the most challenging or rewarding aspect of studying the IB at RIS?
The most challenging aspect of the IB is Year 13 when everything is due and so balancing IAs, Extended Essay, CAS, Theory of Knowledge, and most importantly the upcoming exams to prepare for can get very overwhelming. However, the rewards are as equally significant to the effort that is put in as when you finish all the work due and finally submit it, it's very pleasing, especially because of all the hours dedicated.
Where have you applied to university and which course of study would you like to pursue?
I have applied to the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and will pursue the course, Scienze dell'Educazione e Della Formazione.
What messages would you like you to share with your teachers?
Thank you for all the help and especially thank you to those teachers that were able to put themselves in our shoes and understand what we were going through instead of expecting the impossible out of us.
What will you miss most about the school?
I will miss the most the funny classroom moments. Especially when we were tired and overworked it was always nice to have a little laugh in class because of the funny things my classmates would say or do.
