The Principals and all other teachers are specialists, who have completed a full teacher training course.  An in-service training programme ensures that staff keep in touch with current educational trends.  Specialist teachers are brought in for Music and Physical Education.  EAL specialists assist class teachers with the integration of non-English speakers into the curriculum, as well as providing intensive language tuition.  A Special Needs teacher gives assistance to children with special educational needs and conducts diagnostic tests where appropriate.  The relatively small classes ensure that children receive individual attention.  Parents are kept informed of their children's progress by reports each term and by regular parent-teacher consultations.

All RIS teachers are carefully selected from highly qualified candidates, many of whom have come to us from the international school circuit where they have lived and worked in a variety of foreign cultures.  Some have stayed with us for many years giving us an overall stability whereas our new teachers share their recent studies and experiences.  In the Elementary school each class has its own teacher who is responsible for delivering the English curriculum whilst Italian, P.E. and Music are taught by specialist teachers.  A PYP co-ordinator supervises the introduction of the PYP programme. There is an EAL teacher to help international children with their English and a SEN teacher for students with special educational needs.

In Middle and High School, each subject has its own specialist teacher with a form teacher taking over the pastoral care of the students in his/her class.

Italian is taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced mother-tongue teachers either as a first language or as an additional language.  French, Spanish and Chinese are taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers who will always be fluent in the language.  Latin is offered as an extra-curricular language through the Associazione.  We have a highly experienced GCSE/IBDP coordinator and our Middle/High School principal is also PYP and MYP trained.  All our Middle/High school teachers are either mother-tongue English or completely bi-lingual English (with a language other than Italian).

Middle/High school has its own Special Needs/EAL teacher who works with students either individually or assisting them in the classroom.
