Self learning environments

We aim to provide students with immediate access to quality multimedia resources; safe, secure access to the internet and to comprehensive databases providing a broad range of information specifically designed to meet research requirements.

We intend to set up an autonomous learning centre for Middle/High School students, equipped with resources which will allow students to work independently in specific areas as required, for example in the recuperation of missed lessons or extra English practice.   This will provide students with the possibility of working independently at their own speed and according to their specific needs.

From 08:15 to 08:40 High School students may use to the Study Support Suite, where they can complete any outstanding coursework or use the time for research or study.  Here they have access to PCs, printers and internet and to the library, electronic encyclopedias and multimedia resources.

Resource materials currently available:

  • A range of CD-Roms are available for use in the computer lab which adjoins the library
  • Circa 350 volumes for consultation comprising of encyclopaedias, magazines, journals etc.  The range of educational journals will be expanded from September 2008 onwards.
  • Audio cassettes  - players and headphones are available for use in the library.
  • Video tapes of various disciplines are available for consultation.
