The Run for Food - Sports Event

Saturday 24th October 2009

On Saturday 24th October at 18:00 at Circo Massimo, the 4th Run for Food 10K competitive race and the 5K fun run was held.  This year were eight eager, willing runners representing Rome International School - 2 members of staff, 3 students and 3 parents.

To meet and greet the willing competitors and to support the event was the Principal Mr. Waanders, accompanied by his very supportive wife Marianne.  It was great to see 2,655 people turn up to run for a worth while cause, the feeling of being cheered on by spectators from around the world visiting Rome was awe inspiring, it gave you a lift and a sense of achievement as you trod the cobbled streets around the Colosseo and Circo Massimo.  Read more...

GCSE Results

RIS would like to congratulate our first GCSE cohort on their success in the examinations which they took in May and June 2009, at the end of Grade 11.  After a nervous wait during the summer, the results arrived in late August and were very impressive, with our students gaining a total of 67 GCSE qualifications between them. They achieved a 34.3% rate of the top A* and A grades (compared to an average of 21.6% for all GCSE candidates) and an overall 80.6% rate of C grade and above passes (compared to an average of 67.1% for all GCSE candidates). Well done to all of you!

The students, who are now studying for the IB Diploma at RIS, were presented with their official GCSE certificates by RIS Managing Director Ivano Boragine during a ceremony on Thursday 8th October. A particular mention should go to Fernanda M., who was awarded four A* grades, along with two As and one B - an outstanding achievement!
