PYP - Our current programme of inquiry 2010-11 The following information is taken from the web site http://www.ibo.org The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a transdisciplinary programme of international education designed to foster the development of the whole child. The PYP draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children. Only IB World Schools (schools authorized by the IB) and candidate schools can offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP). As an IBO PYP Candidate School in the academic year 2010-11, RIS will be developing our Programme of Inquiry. This is an outline of all of the trans-disciplinary units of work covered in each year group from Kindergarten to Grade 6. We will be developing this with reference to the IBO Sample Programme of Inquiry, but will also be considering what we feel are the needs of the children at our school. We will also be carefully considering the development of skills, knowledge and understanding within and across year groups. Below is an outline of the planned programme for 2010-11.

NEW UNITS OF INQUIRY 2010/2011 NURSERY/KINDERGARTEN - TRANSITION GRADE 1 - GRADE 2 - GRADE 3 - GRADE 4 - GRADE 5 - GRADE 6 GRADE 6 EXHIBITION The PYP exhibition is a collaborative, transdisciplinary inquiry process that involves students identifying, investigating and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems. As a candidate school, RIS is not required to participate in the exhibition, however we feel that is an excellent opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile and share them with the whole school community.
