Since 2011 is the International Year of Chemistry, Rome International School will soon be starting a Chemistry Club. This club will undertake a number of activities where chemistry meets the other subjects offered in the school. We will explore the chemistry in processes you may not have thought of as 'chemical', like: how are pigments made? How have changes in the chemical process of making paint influenced the art world? What chemical process comes into play when a painting ages? And we hope to end the year with a big science fair.
If you want to know a little more, read the article 'Chemistry Club: proving chemistry is fun!'

Do you like to write, but would you like to get just a little better? Just a little more original? Can your creativity use a little boost? Then join the Creative Writing Club! The club explores how different writers approach writing: e.g word play, imagery, symbolism, figurative language within prose and poetry, they learn to use a writing journal, and learn to use stimuli to kick start creative writing: e.g. photographs, first/last lines, themes, music, nature, objects, collage, mood boards et cetera. And aspiring writers will be given you a platform for your own writing via creative writing competitions such as the Keats and Shelley competition and on our website.

Philosophy is a discipline that engages with ‘big questions’, both abstract and practical. Philosophers like to question received opinion, and spend time trying to develop a critical and analytical approach to the world around them.
Our Philosophical Club debates Philosophical issues, such as ‘What is justice?’, ‘ What is freedom?’ or ‘What is it to be human?’ The club also read and analyzes extracts from works of famous philosophers, and engages in any philosophical activity of interest to the participants!
