This Saturday, we had a very succesfull edition of our annual May Fair. Many students, parents and staff members enjoyed a beautiful day in the sun, playing games or browsing the stalls selling food, drinks and all sorts of items, from toys to handbags and from books to dresses. All the money that we raised on this day, will go to charity. Click here to view a photo gallery of this wonderful day. |

Grade 13 Graduation Celebration |
|
We would like to thank the families, friends, teachers and other RIS staff who joined us on Wednesday evening at Teatro Euclide to mark the first ever Rome International School Grade 13 Graduation. It was a wonderful event, with the students sharing many happy memories of their time at RIS and having the chance to talk about the exciting future that awaits them over a celebratory aperitivo afterwards. We wish all our Grade 13 students much luck in their IB Diploma results, due on July 6th/7th, and hope that they will keep us posted about all their adventures over the years to come.
A photogallery of that evening can be viewed here. |

Grade 4 had fun getting creative and messy in their last art class, by exploring their recent unit of inquiry ‘Adaption’. Students looked closely at how an animal’s skin, scale or fur can help them camouflage themselves in order to survive in their natural habitat.
In pairs, students first painted an animal’s fur, scales or skin looking closely at colour, texture and pattern. They then explored and experimented with their hands to discover how they could best form the shape of that animal. The messy part took place when they then painted their partners hand to look like these animals and camouflage them into their painted backgrounds. |

Middle School uniform and High School dress code |
|
Now that the summer term is here, we would like to remind our Middle School parents of the full school uniform (more information about the uniform you can find here) and especially remind parents that jewellery should be kept to one pair of stud ear-rings and one simple necklace. Our High School students should dress in a way that is appropriate for a school environment. |

We are pleased to welcome Ms Sabira Kakouch, who is joining Rome International School for this term as an intern teaching French. She is a native speaker of the language and will be working closely with Ms Brunet in classes in the Middle and High School, as well as offering some additional French sessions. Our IB DP Visual Arts exhibition is now online |
|
Visual Arts: it’s the one subject in the IB Diploma Programme that stands a bit apart from the others. Where there are exams at the end of the two year course for every other subject, for Visual Arts there is an exhibition where the students get to show their work to the IB Examiner. Last month, at the end of term 2, we had our very first ever IB Visual Arts exhibition at Rome International School. The works of Aloisia Leopardi, Diana Lazzaro and Kathryn Calanca were presented on a very successful Saturday afternoon. If you missed that exhibition, or you'd like to see it again: we have put an impression in photo and video on our web site. Click here to go there now!

Last week, the school photographer has visited RIS to take pictures of our classes and individual students in the Middle and High School. The photographer will return on Wednesday 11th May to do the same with the Elementary School classes and students. Elementary School students should be wearing their school uniforms on this day, just like on any other day. On Wednesday 18th May, we will put out a big display at the office near the main entrance with these photos, where parents can view the result and will find instructions on how to purchase the prints. |
