Preparing students for life. A message from the Headteacher Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
Being a part of a global family of schools has many advantages, and this week's happenings have certainly highlighted some of these. On Thursday we took part in Globeducate's 'Sustainability Festival' in which more than 20 schools around the world participated. Alessandro in Year 12, was an effective communicator as he gave an informative and inspiring presentation about the fantastic work the Eco Council has been doing. On Friday it was wonderful to see our community come together and take part in a wildlife appreciation day. Very well done to all who participated, you have made us proud! Special thanks go to Ms Garofalo and Ms Vanneste for coordinating the event. We were also delighted to host Ms Antonia Giovinazzi, the Executive Principal of ICS Milan. This visit enabled us to share best practice and to start making plans for the year ahead and we look forward to sharing these with you in due course. I hope you enjoy our newsletter this week and I wish you all a safe and restful weekend.

RIS 'Wears it Wild' in spectacular eco style
From dazzling tentacles to handmade masks, there was no shortage of animal prints, beaks, trunks, feathers, fins and paws, as students and staff across the school came together for a dress-up day with a difference. Showing off some seriously impressive costumes in honour of WWF's Wear it Wild Day, everyone did an outstanding job of showing appreciation for wildlife and raising awareness of endangered species.
In the photos below, you can see some of our students and staff wearing masks and wildlife-inspired costumes that they have made themselves, and in true eco style, many of them were made using recycled material! If we are going to save our world, we need to be fiercer, braver and louder than we've ever been. Stay tuned for more news from the Eco Council and the complete photo album next week! Globeducate's partnership with leading conservation charity WWF involves a collaboration across the Globeducate network, impacting on the education of more than 25,000 young people each year. With the WWF having played a key role in identifying the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, it is a natural partnership for Globeducate. Update on Class Photos Dear Parents, A reminder that this year, owing to various COVID-19 related limitations, the class photos will be shared with all families free of charge, in a high quality digital format. We have started the process of sending the photos to parents in the Early Years this week and this process will continue with the remaining classes next week. Thank you! This week in Nursery
Our current Unit of Inquiry is 'Sharing The Planet'. We are busy learning about the many tiny insects that we share our world with and how we must be both gentle and careful with them. We are reading insect stories, singing and dancing to insect songs, making cute crafts and role playing life as an insect. We have also been on insect hunts in the woods with our magnifying lenses and are helping to repair the bug hotel. So far we have found spider webs, lady bugs, a dragonfly and butterflies flying high just like in our favourite song. Ms Scott Kindergarten class look at life under the sea
Our last Unit of Inquiry for this year is Life Under the Sea. This unit is always plenty of fun and a perfect ending to the year. We already read some books such as The Rainbow Fish, sang some songs such as Slippery Fish (and Baby Shark of course!) and did some nice art activities. The kids made some really cute puffer fish by rolling a spikey ball in paint and then onto dark blue card. When that was dry they pasted on the eyes and mouth. A message from the IB Coordinator
Year 13 urgent reminder for the Italian and international students who want to study in Italy: you MUST have the legalization of the IB Diploma, if you have not already done so please send me a copy of your passport, as the deadline is the 10th of June!
Y12 students, we wish you all the best in the upcoming exams. Remember that this assessment is the first comprehensive one and the first 'little trial' of your IB exams. The results you receive should not let you rest on your laurels nor should they crush your motivation. This is your first point of reflection and your first opportunity to see objectively where your areas of strengths and your areas of weaknesses are. Take the opportunity and make the best out of it! Ms El Sheikh Curriculum and Assessment Update Useful resources for the week ahead
