Our students are shaping the world A message from the Headteacher Dear Parents, Students and Staff, As an IB school, success for our students comes in many different guises. Academic success is of course vital, but it is about so much more than that. The personal growth of our students is something that we pride ourselves on, and on many occasions, our newsletter has highlighted the numerous examples of students who have excelled in the arts and at sport throughout the school. Empowering students in this way is a fundamental part of our educational philosophy, and with your support as parents it ensures that pupils who come here have the skills that they will need when they leave school to venture into the world beyond. I wish you all a peaceful weekend. Mr Thompson

Another busy week for students in the Middle and High School has come to an end.
Our Year 11 students have completed their mock exams and this has come as a relief to us all. The next steps will be for our hard working teachers to now provide specific feedback to them and then for us to focus sharply on the last few weeks of learning as we head at breakneck speed towards the exam sessions. As I mentioned previously, I have been very impressed with how these students have carried themselves during these exams, especially when you consider the extended period of online learning prior to these exams. Well done Year 11's and thank you parents for your continued support of these youngsters.
I would like to focus on a couple of areas for the next few weeks - uniform and the use of mobile phones in and around school. Whilst I appreciate that it is cold at the moment, I would urge students and parents to please remember that there is a published school uniform policy. We are seeing too many colourful trainers, heavy boots and non-uniform trousers (in particular) in and around school. I am very keen for this not to become an issue, so urge our community to please make sure that students are not sent to school wearing items of clothing that may put them in direct conflict with teachers. Thank you.
Another area of focus is the use of mobile phones in and around school. We are currently reviewing our (use of) mobile phone policy. We will be working with students, teachers and parents on this policy. We want to create a policy that works for us all. Simply banning phones from school will not work and will put students and staff in direct conflict with each other. I am very keen to create a policy that is fitting with the world we live in, but protects students and staff from the challenges sometimes faced in school. I will be updating the community on this work as we head through the next few weeks. I am keen to hear your views on this issue in particular, so please do contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Students worked in groups and each group received fragments of answers to exam questions. The goal was to use these hints to prepare Paper 1 answers to an imaginary question which at the end they had to provide themselves, fitting their answers. Students also were given a skill category and had to judge their own performance. It was quite challenging but very beneficial!
