CURRICULUM

Based on the ethos of the International Baccalaureate, our approach nurtures students' unique strengths for a successful future and fosters curiosity, instils a love of learning and develops open-mindedness. Through an active, inquiry-based learning approach, we teach students to think for themselves and to understand the significance of what they are learning in global and local contexts.

Developing inquiring minds

A progressively popular programme, the International Baccalaureate was founded in Geneva more than half a century ago with the vision of creating a better world through international education.

It offers students a broad and balanced curriculum, from primary through pre-university, that champions both academic achievement and personal development, well-respected by leading universities and colleges worldwide.

An IB World School

RIS Rome is proud to be an IB World School.

It is the only school in Rome authorised to offer the Primary Years Programme for ages 2 to 11 and the IB Diploma Programme for ages 16 to 18. Our internationally relevant Middle Years curriculum (ages 12 to 14) leading to the Cambridge IGCSE (ages 14 to 16) ensures the quality and consistency of a truly international education.

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) mission is to ‘develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect'. We strive to achieve this every day through our engaging curriculum.

At RIS Rome we strive to be:

Leading universities recognise the IB

Top universities from around the world have shown how they value the IB's credentials by building special pathways for IB students.

Research from leading institutions shows that IB students are more likely than their peers to succeed in higher education.

At RIS Rome, a comprehensive university counselling service means that our students secure a place at the universities of their choice. Since our first cohort graduated in 2011, our students continue to score well above the global average and have received offers from the universities of their choice.

Globeducate network

RIS Rome is part of the Globeducate network.

Globeducate schools have the opportunity to connect with students from our schools across the world to come together, in person or online, for sport, music, arts, academic challenges and to work with others to help build a more equal, fair and sustainable world.

In addition, it means we are able to offer a transformative STEAM programme using LEGO® Education Resources, along with a sustainability education partnership with WWF. These provide our students with a wealth of opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom, and make connections with the world around them.
